New blog feature.

For a while I have been struggling with a title for a new recurring blog post. I have been using the "hmm. interesting" label for things beyond its original purpose. Click here to view the original "hmm. interesting" post.

So. As you can see that label is really designed for things that would make you think "hmm. interesting" or "please stop talking to me" or "that is really strange", and not necessarily things that make you think "wow, you are an idiot" or "that is ridiculous" or "no, really, did you think this through?"....alas, I am trying to decide on a new label for these occurrences.

A good example is the post below about using wikipedia. It doesn't really qualify for "hmm. interesting", but I'd like to group it with other things that make me think "yea...you should have maybe asked yourself, does this make me look stupid in any way?"

You may be thinking, "Sandy, why does it matter if you 'label' your posts?"

GREAT question.

Answer:

1. I am anal.

2. It is my blog and I want to.

3. When you are searching for stupid things other people do in order to feel better about yourself, the last thing you want to do is to look through tons of old posts about my nieces and nephews or what I made for dinner...you want to jump right to the good stuff. hence the labels on the right.

So, please, if you would, VOTE on which label you think is most appropriate. Poll is on the right. If you have an idea of your own I invite you to leave it in the comments.

Lastly, yes, this very post could probably be labeled under this new label. I am okay with that.

Wiki-what?

This post today is from my husband. An email he received at work:

Celebrate Women’s Equality Day – Friday, August 26!

Women’s Equality Day is a day proclaimed each year by the United States President to commemorate the giving of the vote to women throughout the country on an equal basis to men.

Women in the United States were given the right to vote on August 26, 1920 when the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was certified. The amendment was first introduced many years earlier in 1878.

Information taken from:

Attached is a brochure from the National Women’s History Project Website.

Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Thanks,

Andy's response:

Ahh, so refreshing to see our state NRCS employees really embracing the mission of keeping the workplace non-discriminatory and publicizing equal rights information WITH INFORMATION TAKEN FROM WIKIPEDIA!!

I hope this woman wasn’t thinking, “A man with this task would have just sent out the first crap that came up on his google search, so that’s what I’ll do too.”

We don't have kids.

As I was walking through the house today it occurred to me....We don't have kids.

Yet...this is our car:

The spare we used when we picked up J-dizzle in town...just haven't given it back yet.

This is our den:

A sweet princess cup left by one of our cousin's kids. (BTW Chelsey - I'll send this with your other stuff. )

This is our living room:

A bouncy chair for another cousin.....and a smattering of J-dizzle's toys for our house.

Also in our living room:

J-Dizzle's Cribbizzle that Andy and I made for J-man...and can I just say that there is clean laundry stacked on it....I mean really..we are accepting the fact it is just a part of the decor now.

Our spare bedroom:

Yes. A pack in play for naps and visits from nieces and nephews.

That isn't even everything. sigh. Did I mention WE DON'T HAVE KIDS.

hmm. interesting: Laura's Craigs list find

I received this in an email this morning from my sister-in-law Laura.

subject: Is this too creep for "hmm...insteresting"?

well, I guess we'll find out. Here is the post from Craig's list that she sent me:

Are you about to have a baby? have you heard about the benefits of digesting your placenta? animals must have something going right? Your placenta has all kinds of nutrients and vitamins in it that was your babys lifeline in your uterus. It helps women with Post partum depression and increases your milk supply. It has a bunch of iron in it to help decrease your bleeding afterwards. Some poeple decide to cook it, I prefer to make it more...appetizing. I will make it into capsules that you take over a period of about a month. I will add a complimentary gift with it as well that will include your umbilical cord :) let me know if you are interested.

*locally done in anchorage, generally takes 2 days*

Personally, my favorite part is when she said....

buuuuttt wait! there's MORE! if you order in the next 5 minutes you get your umbilical cord FREE! as our gift to you for sending your placenta to someone you found on craig's list! (does not include shipping and handling).

***side note: We aren't judging. Seriously, if you know us you know we have to business judging anyone. If you think this is a good idea go right on ahead....but please don't find the person on craig's list...especially a person who is marketing this service like a 2 AM infomercial.

****side note (well I guess technically they are bottom notes....anyway): follow laura's example -- send me things that make you go 'hmmm. interesting'!!!
