Welsch's stuff is interesting. And I get why students like his points. But from a professional standpoint I can't help but think he's speaking really impractically. Would be curious to discuss with you sometime what your class's reaction was. I know some staff have really pushed for how we should "use" his ideas to serve students, but most feel like it's just not doable.
