the day blueberries saved my life....

So our mountain bikes made the trip to West Virginia with us....and it is here that our saga begins.

1st mountain bike ride = BEST RIDE EVER....8 miles ALL DOWN HILL.  No seriously, we pedaled only to readjust our legs....we followed the old railroad bed down the mountain from my grandparents house....then my parents came to pick us up = AWESOME.

2nd ride = the day the blueberries saved my life.  We were checking out the local single track (mountain bike trails) ...it was called "rock shock"...and no lie.

Andy calls it "rolling single track with technical rock gardens, where it was fun because of the challenge you had in picking your line through the rocks, with unexpected obstacles on turns, uphill climbs, etc."

I call it 5 miles of death.  Mostly uphill death I might add. I am not great at "picking my line through the rocks, so I just went over them, not exactly ideal, but it worked.  So after a few miles of this....(in 90+ temps)...I was beat.  then...suddenly...

Then there they were, as we looked around on our water break....little blueberries....smiling at me...

We HAD to pick them...they were everywhere....

we chugged the rest of my water bottle and filled it up! we could have picked 5 of these water bottles there were sooo many!!!

And after this little rest the trail was still difficult, but had more flat or downhill sections to balance out the uphill...although still basically 1 solid rock gardens with a few breaks now and then when you could actually see the soil...

But it was worth it for homemade wild blueberry muffins!
