Mother Nature is trying to get back on our good side by giving us the PERFECT kayaking and camping weather! Completely calm, a break in the 100+ temps and high humidty, cloudless night, AND slight wind at our backs on the Saturday morning leg! Perfect! Not to mention we had brand new, never been used kayaks!

In the summertime...
We have creating our own outside space at our apartment building...this was a few weeks ago..
.
good times, good friends...
Camping shmamping.....
It's official....camping hates us!!
What a beautiful day it was...we planned to canoe 12 miles then camp over night, then canoe another 10 miles Sunday morning. All was going to plan....we could not have asked for better canoeing weather...barely a breeze...hot but not too hot...good current...very relaxing....
although Phillip and Kelsey had a few problems going straight at the beginning....errr...uhh...i mean they were "taking full advantage of the entire river"...as they put it....
(this is a pic of them canoeing to directly at the bank...)
We found a great sandbar to camp on...tons of room, firewood, etc. As you can see this was the site that a bridge used to cross the river....actually this is the first sandbar we came to that didn't already have people camping on it...there were tons of people canoeing and camping on the river on Saturday night...
We got our tents up...enjoyed some hotdogs over the fire....
then came the OTHER weather...long story short, about 10:45 pm the wind began to shift and pick-up, lightning was increasing and getting closer....we decided we should leave. So picture four of us hurrying to breaking camp in pitch dark...well except for the LIGHTNING, paddling our METAL canoes from a sandbar in the MIDDLE of the river UPSTREAM to the public access point....as a thunderstorm was beginning....nice.
conclusion: camping hates us. this is the second time in a row we have been out camping that we've had to abandon due to weather. blah.
poo on you mother nature... poo on you!!
