Behold your future.

I had a meeting on Saturday morning in which we were all joking about the number of purple pens in our lives...when one friend discovered...count them:

That's right SIX DIFFERENT PURPLE PENS in her purse..and multiples of some which are not pictured.  We all had a good laugh and moved about our day.

Then comes Sunday.  (dun dun dun) When Andy and I were assisting in the cleaning our of my grandparent's house....

where we discovered (among many, many, many other collections not pictured) a box full of wheels and castors:

A huge overflowing box of ....paint sticks?

and...
wait for it...

not 1.

not 2.

but THREE BOXES of pinecones.

 (yes, pine cones.)

hey, at least their labeled.
< I love things that are labeled.eek.>

So needless to say, as I was looking back at the purple pen picture...it suddenly struck me that it was less funny...and more...let's say more of a gateway drug to a larger problem.

Jackie - behold your future. :)

and probably mine too.

Arnold cousins -- I can't wait for Christmas.  You'll never guess what you're getting!!!

more to come on the house cleaning treasure finds.

footloose...

This is a facebook post from my cousin-in-law Jake:

Did you ever wonder if your day was getting off on the wrong foot (no pun intended)? I think I need to start turning a light on when I get dressed at 5:30 in the morning

Thank you Jake for a good laugh on a Friday!  I hope your day got better from here!

i go to college: big office

Today's college student gem comes from a young gentleman, a self identified freshman, who randomly popped into my office this afternoon. His mission, apparently, was to tell me that he has a couple classes in this building, and he always looks in offices as he walks down the office and I have "a big ass office".

That was all he wanted -- to tell me that I have the biggest office he has noticed so far.

um, thanks?

Hmm. Interesting: Hedge balls

This was in the grocery store during a recent visit to Minnesota.

We could all get rich...88 cents at a time!

PS. Maybe the 'DO NOT EAT' wouldn't be quite a necessary if this wasn't set up in the middle of the produce section..just saying.

this is why we can't be friends: grocery list

Yay for a new recurring blog entitled "this is why we can't be friends" dedicated to reasons that Andy and I cannot be friends.

Yesterday as I was leaving work Andy and were talking on the phone about what I needed to get at the grocery store. He was at home so I asked him to email me the list, as I could not talk on the phone, drive and write down the list. As I'm walking through the grocery store I get the list on my phone...this is what it says:

apples/fruit
bananas
cheese
fart machine
milk
wheat chex
tortillas
bread
jelly

Fart machine. This is why we can't be friends.

New blog feature.

For a while I have been struggling with a title for a new recurring blog post. I have been using the "hmm. interesting" label for things beyond its original purpose. Click here to view the original "hmm. interesting" post.

So. As you can see that label is really designed for things that would make you think "hmm. interesting" or "please stop talking to me" or "that is really strange", and not necessarily things that make you think "wow, you are an idiot" or "that is ridiculous" or "no, really, did you think this through?"....alas, I am trying to decide on a new label for these occurrences.

A good example is the post below about using wikipedia. It doesn't really qualify for "hmm. interesting", but I'd like to group it with other things that make me think "yea...you should have maybe asked yourself, does this make me look stupid in any way?"

You may be thinking, "Sandy, why does it matter if you 'label' your posts?"

GREAT question.

Answer:

1. I am anal.

2. It is my blog and I want to.

3. When you are searching for stupid things other people do in order to feel better about yourself, the last thing you want to do is to look through tons of old posts about my nieces and nephews or what I made for dinner...you want to jump right to the good stuff. hence the labels on the right.

So, please, if you would, VOTE on which label you think is most appropriate. Poll is on the right. If you have an idea of your own I invite you to leave it in the comments.

Lastly, yes, this very post could probably be labeled under this new label. I am okay with that.
